Jay Panther's Ski season ends and Beach Volleyball season begins

Hello,

Sadly U.S. National Championships and the ski season are over. I had a great time in Stratton, VT and flashes of brilliance in my skiing. I did not get the results I was hoping for but I am happy with how I am jumping and skiing. I was also in the top three in speed all weekend. I just need to continue to put it all together more consistently. I have attached my qualifying and finals run from singles. My finals run was a winning contender until I just over rotated my bottom air.

The ski season is over now and that is never ideal but I am heading down to Santa Monica next week to start the beach volleyball season and that will be great. I hope you have had a great winter. Thanks for all the love and support. I will let you know how the beach is.

Jay Panther back from World Cups

Hello,

I am writing today from the U.S. for the first time in a month. After a 27 hour travel day we arrived in Stratton, VT for our last contest of the season, U.S. Nationals. Being in Europe and skiing World Cups was the most amazing experience of my life. We had a ton of fun and competing at the highest level is incomparable. I have attached video of a run from our last stop in Voss, Norway.

We compete here in singles on Friday and duals on Sunday. The event will be broadcasted live on the internet at www.urtur.com Once on the site click on the LIVE link located at the top of the page. Hello,

This weekend did not go exactly as planned. Friday I ended up 25th. I skied on edge the whole run and had the 4th fastest time but was rough and hanging on for dear life through all of it. I am satisfied with the fact that I held nothing back and skied with an all or nothing attitude, a necessity at the World Cup level. I left it all on the course which is easier to deal with than skiing conservative and missing finals. Today was a little more of the same with a final result of 29th.

Unfortunately this means I have not broken into the top 24 in the world (I think I am 30th) and have not qualified for World Cup finals. I will still be traveling with the team to Norwaybut will only be training. I look forward to some time to focus on improving and ultimately getting ready for U.S. Nationals at the end of this month. Jay Panther in Sweden for a World Cup

Hello,

I am very excited as we have World Cup competition the next two days in Are, Sweden. Singles is Friday and duals is on my birthday, Saturday! It is the first time I have ever competed on my birthday and I could not be more excited. I think a World Cup victory would be a perfect birthday present.

We have been here since Saturday getting some extra training in and I am skiing great. I cannot wait to compete! I have been anxious to get in the the gate ever since making my first World Cup final at the last event in Czech Republic.

Jay Panther makes his first World Cup Finals!

Hello,

I got fifteenth today in the World Cup! It was a good day and nearly a great day. I am thrilled to have made my first World Cup Final. I had a good qualifying run and was 15th going into finals. In my first dual I was up against a Canadian that is second in the World right now. I was having a great run and beating him by a mogul or two when both of my skis released and I ended up doing front flips through the middle section. I am well but I did rip my pants and lost some skin on my quad. I have attached video of both runs and a picture post crash.

Today was a huge success for me as I excelled in every area under my control. Qualifying for finals was a big step in and of itself. I am also pleased that I laid it all on the line in finals and simply had some bad luck when I kicked a couple shoes. I knew I was capable of competing with the best in the World but today was an awesome reaffirmation.

I am very excited to head to Prague tomorrow for some much need R&R and a lot of touristing about. I am traveling with all my boys and we are ready to take the city by storm. Thank you for your love and support.

Jay Panther is going to World Cups!

Hello,

I am writing today with some of the most exciting news I have ever gotten. I have been selected to ski the late season World Cups!!!!! Based on my performance at the first two North American Tour Stops the coaches chose me to go to the Czech Republic and Finland for the last three World Cups. I also have a chance at earning a World Cup Finals spot inNorway if I perform well at the World Cups.

This being said, my past week had mixed success. Obviously, I did well enough to earn World Cups, but I did not dominate as I had hoped. I got sixth the first day and fifteenth the second day. I am happy with the first day as I qualified in the sixteenth and final position and had an amazing run to move up to sixth. The second day I qualified sixth and was in striking position to win but crashed before the bottom air. It was a solid week considering I did not get to train at all before the contests as I was soo sick. I have attached video of my finals run from day one.

Jay Panther takes the win

Hello,

I am writing today with exciting news. At the first North American Tour Stop in Calgary, AB I got a ninth and a FIRST! I got ninth in singles and won duals. On singles day I qualified fourth and was having a great finals run when I caught an edge and got thrown off balance just a few moguls before the finish line. While I was able to not fall, the judges hit me pretty hard for the four whacky turns. Without that mistake I very well may be writing about the weekend in which I won two events, next time! The duals event was a great win for me. The course was tough and got very steep halfway down. My game plan was to ski fast and make everyone try and keep up. It worked all day as everyone I skied against either blew out or did not do a trick off the bottom air because they were out of control. I have attached video of my final dual and a picture of me on the podium!

I compete again tomorrow and Thursday in the second North American Tour event at my home mountain in Park City. The event will be broadcasted online atwww.urtur.com. Once on the site click the LIVE link at the top of the page. Qualifying starts tomorrow at 12:15 PM and finals is at 3:00 PM (MST). The schedule for Thursday is a half an hour earlier. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers for the next two days. I have not been able to train this week as a bad allergy infection has kept me in bed. JAY PANTHER MAKES U.S. SKI TEAM

Hello,

I am writing today filled with elation as I have accomplished my life long dream...earning a spot on the U.S. Ski Team!!! I competed this past week at the U.S. Ski Team Selections event in Steamboat Springs, CO and finished second overall. This result also means I get my first two World Cup starts in Lake Placid, NY January 21 and 22.

The week was a roller coaster. The first day I qualified 3rd with the fastest run of the day and followed that up with an improved finals run that earned me 6th. The second day I was having my best run of the week in qualifying and my ski pole broke in half just after landing the top air. I was able to hold it together and finish my run with one pole but I qualified 11th which is not an ideal position to win finals. I knew I had to lay it all on the line and ski an amazing run or blow out trying. I skied the run I had to and finished second on the day and in the overall! Despite everything I never lost focus on what I had to do, ski my run.

I have attached a video from my second place run and some pictures of the new suit. I have also copied the press release to the bottom of this email. I have dedicated the last seven years of my life to this moment and all the hard work has finally paid off. The last couple of days have been a complete whirlwind and it still has not all sunk in. I am doing my best to embrace this time but am aware that this is just another step (be it the best step I have ever taken). My goals are still set on winning World Cups and ultimately the Olympics. U.S. Ski Team Member (It feels good just typing it)

LOCAL ATHLETE WINS PLACE ON 2011 U.S SKI TEAM

Jay Panther earned himself the prestigious place on the 2011 U.S. Freestyle Ski Team on Tuesday, December 22, 2010. Panther finished 2^nd overall at the two day U.S. Ski Team 'Selection' Event in Steamboat, CO. With a 6th place finish on Sunday, December 19^th, the pressure was on for Tuesday’s competition. It was a nail-biting, 11^th hour adventure – Panther’s equipment was missing the morning of his first round on Tuesday. He managed to find his skis, however he couldn’t find his poles. Borrowing his coaches’ poles, he rocketed onto the 1^st run qualifying course:

“Panther broke his pole halfway through the qualifying run. He was ripping, skiing awesome, when all of the sudden he had a serious bobble. He recovered and 2 turns later had another little bobble. Then he ripped the rest of the run and hit his bottom air perfectly balanced. He crossed the finish line, held up his right pole and 1/2 of it was gone. The bobbles had come at the break and when he instinctively tried to plant the pole again. The way he adjusted is quite a tribute to his strength and athleticism”. (Source: L.J. Finishing 11^th on his 1^st run, Jay was steadfast to win his 2^nd run. Borrowing another set of poles from his coach with nothing to lose, filled with sheer grit and white knuckle determination, Jay skied flawlessly taking 2^nd place on his 2^nd run which earned him the last spot on the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team.

“The U.S. Selection event is probably the hardest of the year”’ said Head Coach, Scott Rawles. “This is their one big shot to open the door. It really is a make or break event” (Source: Utah Skier Online 2010)

L.J. Panther, Jay Panther’s father, was able to be there for the event and he commented on his son’s success. “We went to the U.S. team coach's hotel and it was like X-mas. They laid the team gear under this huge X-mas tree. He got this huge suitcase on wheels with US ski team logos on it with a snowflake theme.....very cool. He got the team uniform which is a huge status symbol, of course. He got 3 pairs of ski pants, 3 jackets of different weights, gloves, socks, long underwear etc. etc....all with U.S. Ski team plastered all over them. It's been a long 6 years since this kid headed west to resume competitive skiing. He almost made the team a couple of times only to face disappointment. We all began to ask how much longer he was going to pursue this, but he never wavered....he would compete until he got where he wanted to go. I guess hard work really does get paid off in the end.”

Jay graduated from Ballard High School in Louisville, Kentucky, where he won the Wendy's High School Heisman Trophy, was a Coca-Cola Scholar and also an 8 time first team academic all-state winner, as well as a President's Scholar. Jay went to Vanderbilt on a full scholarship and played baseball his freshman year before leaving to head west to compete again.

In the fall of 2010, Panther also received his “A” level beach volley card to compete professionally next summer when he can’t get to the snow. This past summer he was in Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the "Old School Side OutTournament" along with other AVP stars and local athletes.

Jay is now a member of the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team. He has won International events and defeated Olympic Champions and looks forward to competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Hello,

I am writing from Apex, B.C. I have been up here for the last week and will be here for another week. There is a full mogul course and the training is absolutely great! I have attached a video from my training yesterday, enjoy and know it will only get better! I am still knocking the rust off my skiing and jumping but I am very happy with how I am doing. I have my first contest of the year in two weeks in Steamboat Springs, CO. It is U.S. Freestyle Ski Team Selections Event and if I am first or second overall after the two day event, I will be promoted to the U.S. Freestyle C Team and earn World Cup Starts this season!!! I am training hard and have no doubt that I will be in the best imaginable position to win the event.

I had a great fall season in L.A. I trained daily at Virtual Snow and played a lot of volleyball. I earned my B and then A rating in two man beach volleyball. Once I earn my AA and AAA ratings I will be able to compete in professional tournaments! I think that it was a perfect fall of training and preparation for the upcoming ski season. Beach volleyball is all plyometrics and explosiveness, precisely what I need for skiing. Virtual Snow really fine tuned my skiing abilities and balance so when I did get on snow I was already way ahead of the curve.

Jay Panther Podiums in Australia

Hello,

I have been back in the states for a couple of weeks and I still think about Australia daily. Australia was everything I hoped it would be and more. The people were amazing, the land and animals beautiful, and my ski training was extremely productive. The last part of the trip we went to Mt. Buller in southern New South Whales and were able to train and compete on a second course. The course was a blast and the competition day went well with me getting 3rd! The event was supposed to be duals but due to horrible visibility and weather the final results were based on our scores from the one run qualifying round. It was disappointing to not be able to dual and win :) but I was happy with another podium and my $750 in prize money. This was the first time I have ever won prize money skiing!

After the event we went to Melbourne for our final two days. The city is incredible and we were able to see a lot. The highlights for me were the botanical gardens and the Melbourne Cricket Grounds (MCG). The MCG is actually the largest spectator sporting facility in the world with seven stadiums. The Australian Tennis Open, Sydney Olympic events, and many cricket and rugby matches are all held on the grounds. Our final night we decided to spend on the beach in the harbor. We explored a pier and rock jetty only to discover hundreds of wild penguins surrounding us. After speaking with a team of scientists we discovered how truly unique our experience with the penguins were. The penguins have just recently inhabited the rock jetty built during the Olympic Games and are a complete secret to everyone as to preserve their habitat. We just happened to show up immediately after sundown which is the only 45 minute window these penguins are active. We witnessed mating, feeding, playing and I even was able to pet two penguins. It was an amazing experience that perfectly capped a hugely successful Australia trip!

I am down in L.A. now and continuing my volleyball training. I now have a coach that is training me full time and is also going to compete with me. We have our first tournament this weekend. When I am not on the beach I am at Virtual Snow, a simulated ski training facility in Santa Monica. I will continue my training here until the snow begins to fly in Park City the beginning of November. I am extremely happy with how all of my training is going and with how Australia went, but by no means satisfied. I am motived and working harder than ever with anticipation and excitement for the opportunities that will be presented to me this ski season! Thank you so much for your love and support. Jay Panther Skiing in Australia

Hello,

The contest this weekend went well. I got third the first day and fourth the second day! The weather was crazy with winds upwards of one hundred kilometers an hour and nearly 30 centimeters of snow. The snow here is much different that what I am used to in Park City. It comes down almost as fast as rain because it is soo wet and feels more like cream than powder when it accumulates. With that much snow it would be reasonable to believe that the course would be soft and easy but that is not the case. The snow sets up and becomes very slick and after just a few people have skied over it, it turns hard as cement. Either way, it was great to get in the gate and compete in August. My skiing is improving very rapidly over here and I am very excited to compete again next weekend. We drive six hours to Mt. Buller on Thursday and compete Saturday. The winner of the event gets $2500! That would be a very nice offset to the cost of this trip :)

Hello,

I am writing today from Perisher Blue, New South Whales Australia! We left Tuesday evening and arrived at our inn Thursday night. Today we skied for the first time and the course is awesome. It is the equivalent of our January here and they have gotten over six feet of snow in the last week and a half. The training is going to be great and we get to compete the next two weekends.

I saw my first kangaroo and Emu (second largest bird behind the ostrich) today. The scenery is beautiful and the people are great. In the short time I have been here, Australia has been everything I had hoped it would be. Thank you so much for the love and support. I will write to let you know how the rest of my trip goes and I will include some photos and video.

Today I played in Baxter Jack's Old School Beach Volleyball Tournament in Louisville, KY. The heat was in the mid 90's but with the humidity the heat index was well over a 100 degrees. The tournament started at 9:00 AM and we did not get done playing our last game until 7:00 PM. Fatigue was a huge factor today, especially as the tournament wore on. We were able to win two games against better teams simply because one of the players was so fatigued we were able to expose him. My partner and I were able to stayed fueled on Powerbars' Ironman Performance drinks and Apple Cinnamon Energy Performance Bars while the other teams ate hot dogs and drank water. Thank you Powerbar for providing the products that allow me to perform at my highest level longer! We ended up getting 5th and Powerbar was very much a part of our success!

Hello,

It has been a while since my last update as I took the spring off from skiing but summer has begun and so has training. I spent April and May in Santa Monica, CA playing beach volleyball and working for a friend landscaping her property. I entered a two-man volleyball tournament and we got third so I earned my semi-professional B card from the California Beach VolleyballAssociation! I really enjoyed being able to compete outside ski season so I plan on doing more tournaments in September and October. I also got to watch my little brother graduate from Palo Verde High School in Las Vegaswith my Mom and Dad in the beginning of June. Shane is now heading to the University of Las Vegas, Nevada on a full soccer and academic scholarship! I could not be more proud of my brother!

I spent two weeks in Park City and did a lot of water ramping. I had a blast working my mogul tricks but I also played on the bigger jumps(see attached video). I have been in Mt. Hood, OR now for a week and the skiing is great(see attached picture). I am coaching and training with the StrattonMogul Team. We went surfing on Friday and I put in a solid five hours in the water, funtastic!

I am heading home to Louisville on the tenth for some much needed family time. I head back to Park City for a week on the third of August and then I am off to Australia for three weeks! I have never been to Australia and it is the the one place I have always wanted to visit. The ski training is great because it is the their winter, and supposedly they love American accents.

Jay Panther U.S. Freestyle Nationals

Hello,

The season feels like it just started yesterday and alas now it is over until next December. I had a great weekend in Squaw Valley at U.S. Nationals and nearly had an amazing weekend. I had a great first run on singles day and qualified 3rd. This meant that I would go 3rd from last in finals and was in a great position to win. Unfortunately I did not have a perfect finals run and ended up 10th. Duals day again I skied great in qualifying and came in 5th. In my first dual I had a horrible start and was playing catch up the entire run. I had a remarkable middle section to catch up but just over rotated my bottom air and was unable to hold on. Below is video from my qualifying run on singles day.

I am walking away from the weekend happy. Obviously I was there to win. Instead I gained experience in how to deal with the pressures of standing in the gate knowing a win is one great run away. This was easily the best skiing I have done all year and I was perfect with myCalifornia Roll all weekend. The key for me is to figure out how to ski like I did this past weekend at the next U.S. Team Selections event in December. If I can show up there skiing like I am now, I will really be in a position to win!

I got a really nice write up in the local Tahoe newspaper. The story included 2 pictures of me....one jumping and another a candid picture of me showing duct tape the trainer put on my minor back injury. Steve Yingling watched me ski as a child and wrote a great article for me at Nationals last year as well. Here is a link to the story....sorry....no pics in link.

Jay Panther Steamboat Nor Am

Hello,

The North American Tour is officially over and I ended fifth in the overall. Last weekend in Steamboat I got seventh and tenth in singles and duals respectively. The weekend did not go exactly as planned as a win or even a podium is still eluding me but I am very happy with my results. Again I competed my California Roll (D-Spin 1080) both days and landed them all. That in itself is a victory as the learning curve on bringing a new trick to contest is usually a full season, so I am happy having immediate success. This fact really brightens my hopes for Nationals and puts me in a great situation for next year as I will not have to focus on a new trick. I can focus on my skiing (which is 50% of the score) and consistency! I have attached video from my finals run on singles day in Steamboat. The trick I do off the first air is my California Roll. Enjoy!

Nationals is March 24th-28th and is my last chance to move up the U.S. Ski Team rankings. The winner of the singles event at Nationals gets a B Team spot and the winner of the duals event gets a C Team spot. My skiing is feeling better than it has all season and my jumping is getting more consistent. I am heading into this last event full of confidence and ready to win! Jay Panther on North American Tour

Hello,

I just got back from my third North American Tour stop in Apex, British Columbia where I got tenth place. I skied okay and jumped really well. I competed my D-Spin 1080 for the first time and had great success. I landed the trick with consistency all week and the judges rewarded it with near perfect scores. It feels really good to bring that trick to contest. My skiing, however, was a little off all week. I have been working some significant changes in my technique and as a result skied slow, especially for me. I am hoping it is a take one step back to take three steps forward, situation.

We are now in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for our fourth and final Nor Am Tour contest. The contest is Thursday and Friday, both days starting at noon, Mountain Standard Time. I am very excited to compete and plan to finally get the winning result that has eluded me all season. Unfortunately, Micheal Kingsbury from Canada has already mathematically won the North American Tour overall, so there will be no U.S. Ski Team spots awarded this season. My next chance to move up the U.S. Ski Team rankings is Nationals at the end of March.

Hello,

The Killington, VT Nor Am is now over and I am back in Park City. I got 25th on singles day and 6th duals day. The weekend was solid and I am glad to add a 6th to the 5th and 8th I got in Lake Placid, NY two weeks ago. The results are still not what I am looking for as I have yet to win or podium, but I am still finding my stride. It will be nice to be home for this week and get some focused training. I want to bring the California Roll back as I dropped it during the last two contests because the courses were difficult. There are still three more Nor Am stops, a total of six competitions. This means there is still a lot of skiing to do. At this point I am fifth overall in the Nor Am Grand Prix so I am in a good position to make a run at winning it all.

Hello,

I am pleased to report a successful weekend in Lake Placid, NY with a 5th place Friday and 8th Saturday. Friday was one of the gnarliest days I have ever had on snow. I woke up to a text message from my coach informing me that it was negative seventeen outside with fifty mph winds and the contest was on hold. The contest did happen but due to the conditions it was turned into a one run contest. I put down a solid run on a very difficult course that was a sheet of ice. I watched nearly all of my competitors blow out of the course completely. Part of the reason the contest took so long was there were six men that had to be taken off the course in first aid sleds. There were some extremely scary crashes but luckily there were no broken necks or backs.

Today was significantly better. It was supposed to be a duals event but due to the weather and the slow contest yesterday, the judges decided to make today a singles event to ensure we finished the event. It was still negative twenty and the course was rock solid but there was no wind and the sun was out in full force. I qualified for the sixteen man final with a 10th in the first run. Going into my finals run I decided that 10th was as good as 16th so I was going to let it all hang out and go for the win. My goal for this season is to ski every run to win, and today I did. My finals run was amazing, a total smoke show. I shredded the course with the fastest time of the day by over a second and boosted both of my airs to the end of the landings. I am absolutely ecstatic about how I skied today and have truly disconnected myself from the result. All I can control is my skiing, and today I did it masterfully. What the judges decide to do with my skiing is out of my hands. It was nice, however, to have a half dozen coaches congratulate me, sing my praises, and tell me that I deserved at least a podium.

Hello,

I am pleased to write this update after a couple of solid weeks on snow. We have been in Colorado since November 2nd and the training has been great. The first week and a half of our stay we skied a single groomed run working a lot of turn technique. It was a great way to start the season, get my ski legs back, and really fine tune my skiing. The last three days, however, I am ecstatic to report we have been jumping! I have been really anxious to get in the air and the adrenaline has been good for the soul. As you know I worked very hard this summer training a D-Spin 1080 (California Roll) and have been excited to bring it to the mogul course. Yesterday I tried my first ones on snow and had nerves comparable to a competition day. I embraced those nerves as moments like that are what I live for, and I am happy to report I landed all three attempts. Today I did six or seven more with the same result. It feels great to see hard work come to fruition and I feel confident this new trick will be ready to help me win Selections! I have attached a video of a California Roll (D-Spin 1080) I did today so you can all enjoy it with me.

We will be in Colorado until the 22nd of this month and then I will return to Park City because the mountains will be opening there. I was extremely excited to find out my Mom will be going to Las Vegas for a few days in the beginning of December so I will certainly be taking a few days off at that point to be with her, my little brother and dad. Hello,

I hope that your fall is going great as mine has been awesome. I just got done training at the water ramps in Park City last week. The training was really productive despite 40 degree water and having to shovel snow off the ramp several days. I have been working on my California Roll (3 off-axis rotations/D-Spin 1080) and am very excited to bring it to the mogul course. I can hardly wait until we head to A-Basin, Colorado at the end of this month to get on snow and start my season.

I am in Vegas for a few days working out and mentally preparing for the season. I am really excited to watch my brother, Shane, play his senior soccer season. Shane has lead his team to one of the top spots in the state and is personally among the state leaders in goals and assists. I am sure he will continue to play well as he looks forward to figuring out where he will play in college.

There is also some news regarding the reality TV show. They meant with five stations, including MTV, VH1, and CW last Tuesday. Now we sit and wait to see if anyone calls with any interest. Keep your fingers crossed and I will keep you updated on any news that comes in. Think snow!

Hello,

I am writing today with a lot of really exciting news. First and foremost, probably the coolest thing I have ever done, I completed my Olympic Registration for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C. This does not mean I am going to the Olympics, it means that as a U.S. Team member I am a potential competitor. I also got fitted for all the Olympic outfits. Those two experiences really opened my eyes to the job ahead. It was the first time I thought about the Olympics as a real possibility as opposed to a distant dream. Game on!

We filmed again last week for the reality TV show. The crew came out for four days and filmed everything we did. They were extremely accommodating to me because I had to leave a day early. The crew crammed three days of filming into two days but we got everything done and all parties involved are very excited. Hopefully we will know in the coming months whether or not a Network is interested.

I had to leave the shooting a day early for Zach Recine's, one of my best friends, wedding in Lake Tahoe. I meant Zach as soon as I moved to Las Vegas and we were instantly riding partners in every sense of the word. His wedding weekend was easily one of the best weekends I have ever been privy to.

I escaped Zach's wedding unscathed and have just arrived in Mt. Hood, OR for three weeks. I will be doing some guest coaching and a lot of training. In addition to moguls and jumping, I intend to incorporate a lot of Giant Slalom (GS) training to strengthen my skier cross abilities.

Thank you so much for sharing this excitement with me. My drive is stronger and focus clearer than it has ever been before. There is a set path laid before me and the first step is winning U.S. Team Selections in December. Thanks again for your love and support.

Spring Training and Reality TV

Hello,

I am excited to write in good health. My shoulder is getting better everyday. I have been back in Park City a little over a week now and the training has been great. We are skiing on the weekends at Snowbird and jumping during the week at the water ramps. I have attached some video of the Snowbird training last weekend.

I also have some exciting news to report. The reality TV show that came to Park City in March to film us is moving forward. The original project manager has gotten the producers he wants and the financial backing to film a pilot. The crew is coming up June 22-28 to film us live and train. Once they film the pilot they have to find a network who is interested and if it gets good ratings then it is game on! It is still a long shot but exciting to be moving forward. It would be so cool if this caught on and our sport ended up on MTV!

Jay Panther Wins in Mt. Gabriel

Hello everyone,

It feels good to write with great news...I won the Mt. Gabriel Nor Am! It is nice to have a win under my belt going into the half way point in the season. This also puts me in a solid position for the Grand Prix.

The weekend was really very crazy. The weather dropped down to -40 degrees over the weekend. The cleaning lady took my cell phone the first day we were there. Please send me an email back with your phone number because all of my contacts are gone. There were over 35 World Cup skiers at the Nor Am. A lot of the coaches were saying that was the toughest contest they have seen in years. I skied really well all weekend. I qualified 15th and then skied my finals run over two and a half seconds faster than anybody else skied it all weekend! I have posted the winning run on YouTube. The link is below:

Coming back to the U.S. on Monday one of our rental cars broke down. I ended up driving 11 people in a van with 7 seats and all of our gear across the boarder. The fact that we got through is a miracle. Then we showed up for our flights 20 minutes before the plane took off and still managed to get on! It is really nice to be back in Park City but I leave again soon. We are actually driving to Sun Valley, ID today and then I go to Copper, CO on Monday for the Skier Cross Nor Am! Back on Snow!

What's up family,

I wanted to write and share my excitement with everyone. I am finally skiing for the first time since my fractured knee cap in early March! It is great to be in the cold and back at my first love. We are in Summit, CO skiing at Arapahoe Basin. Most of the resorts here are open with a few groomed runs but the coverage is getting better as it has been snowing a few inches everyday. The training is good and hopefully we will be jumping some time next week.

I will be in Colorado until December 21st. I have a U.S. Team Camp November 24-December 5. Then I head down to Telluride for the first Jeep King of the Mountain Skier Cross event. Immediately following that I go up to Winter Park for U.S. Team Selections event. The next 6 weeks are going to be busy but there is nothing I would rather be doing. I will check back in soon with some video.
